Kristi Cox is the new director of Campus Reservations and Events, as recently announced by the Division of Student Affairs. Cox takes over for Pam Davis, who is moving into the Institutional Excellence lead for the division.

Cox assumes the position after nearly five years with the department, first as associate director for operations and technical services and most recently as associate director for event services. Prior to Clemson, she held a similar role at her alma mater, Florida Gulf Coast University.

“Kristi’s professional experience at both Florida Gulf Coast and Clemson has prepared her perfectly for this leadership role,” says Mandy Hays, assistant vice president for campus life. “She has had direct professional experience in all functional areas of Campus Reservations and Events, including reservation services, operations, venue management and event services.”

A native of Michigan, Cox is in charge of the team responsible for maintaining reservations and event spaces in the Barnes Center, Samuel J. Cadden Chapel, Hendrix Student Center and Old Main Memorial Auditorium. Additionally, her team manages numerous outdoor spaces. In FY23, the CR&E team processed and coordinated nearly 8,000 events and reservations among its inventory.

Cox also moves into the coordinating role for Clemson’s graduation ceremonies, held three weeks each calendar year (May, August, December).

“Graduation is always one of our favorite events and we have a great time with it,” says Cox, who earned a bachelor’s degree in human performance and a Master of Business Administration from FGCU. “We’re always looking to improve our processes. I’m excited to grab those reins and direct it, to continue ensuring the operation goes well.”

One of her first challenges will be maximizing event space for students, faculty and staff. Memorial Auditorium is going to be unavailable for an indefinite period of time due to renovations.

“I love strategic planning, and this position offers a lot of it,” she says. “Pam left very big shoes to fill, but I’m super excited to step into this role.”
